5 reasons why you should be on Tumblr Tumblr is a blogging service unlike any other. In fact, it’s so awesome that many of its devoted users go to great lengths to keep it an exclusive community. We don’t want outsiders who don’t ‘get’ Tumblr to ruin it for the rest of us. Remember Fight Club? Well the first rule of Tumblr, as dictated by those devoted users, is to not talk about Tumblr. I’m in obvious violation of the first rule but with good reason! I’ll tell you why… In an announcement made this week, Tumblr just landed a major investor as well as a new director of product. This didn’t happen by accident, it’s clear they have big things planned for the future of Tumblr so there’s no reason to keep it a secret any longer. If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of using Tumblr let me tell you why you should. It’s something different. It’s not like WordPress, Blogger or any other blogging platform you’ve used before. Text posts like these are rare on Tumblr. Instead of sharing text users share images, video, music, any kind of multimedia that can be consumed quickly and easily. You can follow users whose posts you like, you can re-blog them on your own blog (think retweeting) and you can ‘like’ individual posts. Once you’ve started following a number of users their posts will show up on your dashboard. The dashboard is the first thing you see when you log in and is just like the timeline on Twitter. In fact, the whole service is a lot like Twitter except even more social. It’s fun. Tumblr is an escape from more serious social media platforms like Twitter and WordPress. Personally I like to use it for lighthearted entertainment and to post personal thoughts that people wouldn’t necessarily be interested in reading on my blog. You can make what you want out of it. There’s a directory of tumblelogs sorted by dozens of different categories. Follow a bunch of user-recommended pages in categories you’re interested in to make your Tumblr experience worthwhile. When you sign in your dashboard will be filled with things that you want to see and you’ll be instantly entertained. It’s like a website that you can tailor to suit your personal interests. It’s a community. Actually, it’s a collection of many different communities. No matter how eclectic your interests are you can be sure you’ll find a group of like-minded people on Tumblr. There are tumblelogs for anything from interior design to the hottest movie stars and the people who contribute to them are as devoted as they come. Do you have some obscure interests and find it hard to connect with people who are into the same things? Tumblr might be for you. Are you so passionate about something that you feel the need to share it with the whole interwebs? Tumblr might be for you. To make sharing even easier, if you use Firefox you can get a plugin to share anything on the internet on your tumblelog with the click of a mouse. Share a bunch of things and tag them correctly and I guarantee you’ll get some followers who are into the same things you are. It’s perfect for Gen Y’ers. From my experience with using Tumblr the dominant demographic seems to be Gen Y. If you’re part of this demographic you will probably ‘get’ Tumblr right away and find it easy to connect with people like yourself. If you’re not part of this demographic, well there’s still something there for you as well. For instance, if you’re interested in keeping up with this demographic you need to be where we are and right now our home on the internet is Tumblr. Find out what we’re interested in, what issues are concerning us, what internet memes are entertaining us. Marketers and social media enthusiasts need to be in tune with every demographic and Tumblr is the place to go for Gen Y. It’s the next big thing. Right now, Tumblr is kind of like an underground subculture but soon it will be mainstream. Tumblr has seen tremendous growth this year, averaging 2 million page views a day in January to over 6 million a day at the end of October. Going back to what I said at the beginning, the announcement of securing funding from Sequoia Capital as well as a new director of product means big things are happening for Tumblr. If you’re one of those people who is compelled to keep up with internet trends then this is the one to watch right now. Everything I just wrote about Tumblr could change as more people start using it. After all, social media is always changing according to how people decide to use it. Stay ahead of the curve and start using Tumblr before you start lagging behind.  (http://www.statusmediaplc.com/blog/five-reasons-why-you-should-be-on-tumblr/)

5 reasons why you should be on Tumblr

Tumblr is a blogging service unlike any other. I’ll tell you why…

In an announcement made this week, Tumblr just landed a major investor as well as a new director of product.

No matter how eclectic your interests are you can be sure you’ll find a group of like-minded people on Tumblr. one fine morning everyone!
“Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work. by Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC) I’m not expecting much on the things I do, and I will never ask anything in return. I work without being told, ask for instructions before doing and I’m contented with my evaluation grade. I got 1.35 as my rating of my performance inside the company. I wasn’t expecting to have that said ratings because I was not perfect at all but still I apply all the values that passion of work is needing. :) and that was because I put effort and value in working. CHAR!”
I began to feel better. “I began to feel better. I suddenly made up my mind to do my work as if I actually enjoyed it- even though I despised it… I also found I can work faster when I enjoy my work. So there is seldom any need now for me to work overtime.” -a statement of someone I can agree. It’s actually right expecting things to be done on time when you’re enjoying it and expecting it to be less heavy on my part. Every work given to us was honestly boring and tiresome, but like what I said from previous blogs, it was indeed a challenge. There is nothing more that I can say but I’m feeling great these days.

Too Many of It… Vacation is over so were back to work…full of work! There are four ways of good working habit according to Carnegie and I’ve been following this since I read the book. #1 is CLEAN YOUR DESK OF ALL PAPERS EXCEPT THOSE RELATING TO THE IMMEDIATE PROBLEM AT HAND. —- I and the co-workers were given assigned task to compile a lot of papers to the folders of each the employees. Though it was a tiresome and boring task, we finished it over a week. This was placed in the priority section where it should have done first. Since we did not finish it all for only one day, our supervisor was okay at least we had minimize the number of papers to compile then finish it on the next day. #2 is DO THIS ACCORDING OF THEIR IMPORTANCE. —Since the task was given as a priority, I had suggested the idea of making it as a shortcut to make the task untiringly. So the first thing I made was sorting it by shelf not by alphabetically. So that made the smooth flow of our compiling with the papers. It worked though. #3 is WHEN YOU FACE A PROBLEM, SOLVE IT THEN AND THERE IF YOU HAVE THE FACTS NECESSARY TO MAKE A DECISION. DON’T KEEP PUTTING OFF DECISIONS. —When our supervisor asked us to do the RE-ARCHIVING of the termed files of the year 2009, we felt a little hesitation because it was a bunch of unorganized shelf inside the DocCenter. It was a problem for us, because the previous interns were not that well-disciplined with their task given to them. These were heavy-bounded binders with 3-4 thick compilation of files of each agent, and the shelf were as tall as my drawer. This was something very heavy in our part, but we still find ways to continue it and until it was finished. And lastly, #4 LEARN TO ORGANIZE, DEPUTIZE AND SUPERVISE. —The task that were given to us everyday were a challenge of patience and willingness. Though it was the same like the first 100hours of duty, still it trained us to be a disciplined individual. It was boring sometimes and tiring but it mark a smile in my face to see my supervisor contented with what we did.

I am thankful… I am thankful for my life, though it is full of conflicts and trial. I am thankful for being alive and all. I’m so much thankful that I have encountered many people around me bringing me up with encouragements and pushing me down with fears. Though still, I became strong with these despairs. Life is such great gift from the Lord above as we all know that. But my life isn’t that easy. I had done a lot of things that made me happy and sad. That made me someone different from my family. I was someone who others think of me as a weirdo, who always stayed in one corner and pretending to be happy until I reached the 5th grade. I turn out to be active in school activities and etc. but still having friends only a few. I was still growing that time. Reminiscing, I even remembered I learned how to read when I was in 3rd grade. It was shameful but though I continued to learn. Another feeling that made me a little late bloomer student was being afraid to express who I am and what I can do. It only change my sociability when I reached highschool. My friends were the best thing that happened to me. They were my reason of coming to school everyday. And from that, I joined dancing club, theatre arts and choirs. From highschool until now, I can express my opinions which I think is good. Though I am not that famous in a community, I am still happy for being present today for another experience to face. Now I am determine to face another trial. And think always that I am strong because I believe in myself that is why I learn to work for myself and not depending with other peoples help.
